I’m Irene Enerio. Most often, I let people know that I’m a registered nurse in the neonatal ICU. I spend most of my time on night shift, so you’ll often catch me replying to emails or posting online in the middle of the night. My husband and I recently moved to Portland, Oregon from Los Angeles, California - and yes, I do miss the sunlight quite a bit! While it’s challenging to completely uproot everything we know to come to the pacific northwest, we’re nervous and excited about all of the new adventures to come. If you’re from up here and reading this, don’t be shy about sending over your favorite things to do up here!

I have loved photography since the first camera I held - a film Nikon that my mom gifted me in middle school. She also received it as a gift in the 80s, long before I would ever come to inherit it. Over a few years and many wasted rolls of film, I fell in love with freezing moments into still images (usually my cat, my neighborhood, or some of those classic mirror selfies).

In 2020, I ventured into photographing more than things and occasional family gatherings. I left every comfort and shyly asked friends if I could take a few pictures of them here and there. While many friends have been apprehensive about being forced into modeling for me, so many people encouraged me along the way as one family session turned into an engagement, then the next session into a wedding. 

I have a lot to learn as a photographer, but I love the journey I’m on. I’m excited to grow this passion into art that serves the people and community that’s forming around me. I invite you, and whoever finds their way to me, to join me on this truly exciting adventure of becoming and artist and growing my photography business from now onward.
